Friday Favorites: Cool tools for busy professionals
It's Friday, and time for another installment of Friday Faves. Thanks to all the retweets, favorites and follows from our readers, you can count on this being a regular monthly Sitegeist event. As always, we've got some new stuff to share that we bet you'll find as exciting as we do.
Above all, stay connected.
You're already familiar with the personal hotspot capability of your smartphone or tablet. But then a call comes in and you along with the carload of people you've invited to your wireless hotspot suddenly lose their data connection for the duration of the call.
So inconvenient, especially when your colleagues are responding to email or jamming for that presentation.
If you're lucky enough to have a vehicle with built-in WiFi, you'll never have this problem. But what about when you travel and have to deal with that rental car?
Enter AT&T's new ZTE Mobiley. Just plug the device into the OBD-II port on your vehicle, start your car and up to 5 devices are online instantly. No charging, no fumbling with your phone's control panel, and best of all: it's free (with a two year service agreement).
Just walk away and let someone else do the parking.
Who hasn't dreamed of having their own personal valet to deal with parking headaches?
No? Well in this age of innovation, chances are by the time you need it, there's already a service for it.
We found Luxe Valet this week and boy is this a great idea! Think of it as Über in reverse.
Billed as On Demand Parking & Valet Services, for about the same price as street parking, you can use the app to request a personal valet, who will meet you, park your car, and then return it to you when you've completed your work day, presentation, conference, or appointment.
Meet-ups for music
Sure there's Pandora, Spotify and Apple Music. But wouldn't it be cool to connect with a smaller group of people all listening to the same thing? That's where the social music streaming site Dubtrak FM fills an important niche. Users of the site can create playlists of YouTube videos or Soundcloud track, then share them with the virtual room of people who are listening with you.
It's free and super cool!
Email marketing, no website required
A typical email marketing campaign includes calls to action that direct the recipient to click from the email to various pages of the merchant's site. Each click is one more opportunity for abandonment. Not so with Rebel Mail! The revolutionary interactive email platform allows the consumer to view different options (color, style, size, etc.) and purchase within the email. One more click, and the item is in your customer's shopping cart. Another, and it's paid. Click here to request a demo.
Got any more bright ideas?
If you've got a suggestion for something you'd like to see included in Friday Faves or a topic you'd like us to explore, let us know by posting in the comments section, or tweeting @rareearthus. We'd love to hear from you!
Until next time!
