Rare Earth Interactive Design, a local creative firm specializing in Web site design and development, was honored with five awards at the Sixth Annual Western New York Awards for Creative Excellence held May 19.

Rare Earth received half the awards presented in the Interactive Media: World Wide Web/Online Advertising division, taking two bronze, two silver and the only gold presented in the category. All five awards were presented for Rare Earth's work on behalf of client Zippo Manufacturing Company, www.zippo.com.

The annual awards show, presented by the Art Directors/Communicators of Buffalo and the Professional Communicators of Western New York, honors the work of Buffalo area advertising, public relations and graphics firms. This year, 274 awards were presented among the 754 entries. The awards are judged by a panel of out-of-town judges with design and creative expertise.

Rare Earth Interactive Design, www.rareearthdesign.com, was established in June 1998 by Craig Chapman. The company has designed Web sites for some of the world's most widely recognized brands, including Zippo Manufacturing Company; Circuit City; Mark IV Industries, www.mark-iv.com; to name a few.
