    Phase 2: Design

Rare Earth crafts its award-winning, custom website designs to convey the spirit of its customer value propositions, positioning statements and marketing materials.

By employing sensitivities to ease of navigation, ADA compliance, and visual appeal, we are able to convey your website marketing messages in ways that are compelling, exciting, engaging and useful to both your audience and search engines.

Our creative team accomplishes this through two distinct methods:

    Option 1: The One-Off Design

Our most popular and efficient approach is what we call the "One-Off" website design process. This approach is best suited to customer relationships where our customer contact has the complete authority to decide upon and determine the solution’s look and feel. The One-Off approach also works well when the customer's brand identity is well-established and the available marketing materials have a solid design direction. This generally results in a Home Page and a single Default page display type.

Based purely on the information obtained in the Blueprint phase, we create a single look and feel which satisfies the Blueprint criteria.

    One-Off Design Process Includes:

    • Design: One (1) static mockup is developed and uploaded to the Rare Earth Account Service Portal for review, comment and approval.
    • Revisions: REI makes any final changes to the design and resubmits for final customer approval. This price includes up to two (2) pre-production revisions to the design. Additional revisions are billable, depending on the nature of the requested revisions.
    • Process Management: The One-Off Design Process includes up to 3 person-hours of meeting time with the customer, the customer's design committee, or marketing committee.

About 9-out-of-10 of our customers elect this approach, and all are completely satisfied with the results. Example sites that were developed from the One-Off Design Process include: Aléthea's ChocolatesEnergy Curtailment Specialists, Kolken Law and Greenwood Group.

Typical timeframe: 2 to 3 weeks

    Option 2: The Comprehensive Design

When boards or committees of people are involved in the review and decision-making process with respect to a site’s look, feel and identity, the process invariably requires significant time and commitment on the part of everyone involved.

REI's Comprehensive Design Process for website design, involves a series of iterative steps that enable us to get to the heart of your online identiy and branding considerations. This firmly establishes the creative and visual requirements of the solution's visual design.

In addition to the standard Blueprint, the Creative Brief is extracted as a separate document and multiple design options are offered for considerations.

    Comprehensive Design Process Includes:

    • Stand-Alone Creative brief: The Stand-Alone Creative Brief verbally details the elements and specifications under consideration for three distinct creative approaches to the solution's look and feel. A single narrative conceptual direction is chosen by the customer or the customer's design committee.
    • Design: Three (3) static mockups are developed and uploaded to the Rare Earth Account Service Portal for review, comment and approval.
    • Revisions: Once the look and feel is chosen, REI makes any final changes to the design and resubmits for final customer approval. This approach includes up to two (2) pre-production revisions to the selected design. Additional revisions are billable, depending on the nature of the requested revisions.
    • Process Management: The Comprehensive Design Process includes up to 16 person-hours of meeting time with the customer, the customer's design committee or marketing committee.

Example sites that were developed from the Comprehensive Design Process include: Superior Heating & CoolingMaxATVs and Immigration Law Associates.

Typical timeframe: 4 to 6 weeks
